Pop Music Highlighter: Marking the Emotion Keypoints

    Get PDF
The goal of music highlight extraction is to get a short consecutive segment of a piece of music that provides an effective representation of the whole piece. In a previous work, we introduced an attention-based convolutional recurrent neural network that uses music emotion classification as a surrogate task for music highlight extraction, for Pop songs. The rationale behind that approach is that the highlight of a song is usually the most emotional part. This paper extends our previous work in the following two aspects. First, methodology-wise we experiment with a new architecture that does not need any recurrent layers, making the training process faster. Moreover, we compare a late-fusion variant and an early-fusion variant to study which one better exploits the attention mechanism. Second, we conduct and report an extensive set of experiments comparing the proposed attention-based methods against a heuristic energy-based method, a structural repetition-based method, and a few other simple feature-based methods for this task. Due to the lack of public-domain labeled data for highlight extraction, following our previous work we use the RWC POP 100-song data set to evaluate how the detected highlights overlap with any chorus sections of the songs. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our methods over competing methods. For reproducibility, we open source the code and pre-trained model at https://github.com/remyhuang/pop-music-highlighter/.Comment: Transactions of the ISMIR vol. 1, no.

[[abstract]]When retailers insight into consumer preferences and product differentiation they increase their financial performance using price differentiation There are a variety of attributes and benefits which retailers developed multichannel via consumers give them applying to price differentiation in different context However previous literatures mostly explore single channel influence on price differentiation and the studies in part of price dispersion are only analyzing past price information Therefore according to the customer perspective exploring characteristic factors of price dispersion for multichannel retailers effect on customer value-based price differentiation The method to carry out our study was using a questionnaire survey which aimed at consumers who has been shopping online in Taiwan Total received 381 questionnaires Taking linear regression analysis explores relationship of the market characteristics retailer characteristics the product characteristics and price differentiation And examine the relationship of the different population variables among these dimensions According to price dispersion of information economics demonstrates the factors of value-based price differentiation indicating that retailers use bricks-and-clicks and implement value-based price differentiation reducing consumer’s perceived risk on internet and delivering customer value by service quality transaction channel store image and brand equity allowing customers are willing to pay price premiu

One of the pathogenic systems of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the formation of β-amyloid plaques in the brains of patients, and amyloidogenic activity becomes one of the therapeutic targets. Here, we report wogonin, one of the major active constituting components in Scutellaria baicalensis, which has the neuroprotective effects on amyloid-β peptides- (Aβ-) induced toxicity. Oral wogonin treatment improved the performance of triple transgenic AD mice (h-APPswe, h-Tau P301L, and h-PS1 M146V) on the Morris water maze, Y-maze, and novel object recognition. Furthermore, wogonin activated the neurite outgrowth of AD cells by increasing neurite length and complexity of Tet-On Aβ42-GFP SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells (AD cells) and attenuated amyloidogenic pathway by decreasing the levels of β-secretase, APP β-C-terminal fragment, Aβ-aggregation, and phosphorylated Tau. Wogonin also increased mitochondrial membrane potential (∆ψm) and protected against apoptosis by reducing the expression of Bax and cleaved PARP. Collectively, these results conclude that wogonin may be a promising multifunctional drug candidate for AD

Design and Implementation of a High Power Density Active-Clamped Flyback Converter

    No full text
This paper presents a high power density power converter using an active-clamp flyback converter. The voltage spike in the conventional flyback converter can be eliminated to reduce electromagnetic interference and voltage stresses on power switches by using an active-clamped circuit. The relationship between zero-voltage-switching condition of high frequency power switches and magnetizing inductance and leakage inductance is analyzed and discussed. GaN devices are used both as primary and secondary switches to reduce the converter volume and switching losses, to achieve high power density. The planar transformer design reduces the conduction losses and current stresses of the secondary switches attributed to the winding configuration. With theoretical analysis and circuit simulation, a 65-W (19 V/ 3.3 A) active-clamped flyback converter with universal input voltage capability is developed and tested. The peak efficiency is up to 93% at low line voltage and the power density is 1.879 W/ cm3
